Developer Insomniac Games confirmed Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would be the latest entry in the series to be making its way to PC all the way back in October 2024, but has remained oddly quiet on the topic ever since. The first game laid the groundwork for how fun swinging as Spider-Man can be. So make sure your reaction time is sharp before you don the super suit. Two missions later, players are treated to the most odd, but also the most heartwarming boss fight of the game, as Mary Jane becomes consumed by the Symbiote and tries to take down Peter. Peter wins the fight as MJ becomes herself again before vowing to help Peter and Miles take down Venom.
From modern interpretations of classics to returning fan favourites, there are treats waiting for Spider-Man fans of all generations. They are now all pure cosmetics as well – a smart separation of form and function means picking the skills and abilities you equip are separate from your choice of suit. The story swings just as elegantly between upbeat hijinks and solemn moments of reflection.
You get to fully experience how fast Peter and Miles whip through the New York City skyline. Eventually, Peter and Miles team up to take Venom down, but Harry is left in a coma as the symbiote is finally destroyed. This leads to two crucial scenes that will lead into Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, as Norman Osborn blames Peter for Harry’s situation and meets up with Dr. Otto Octavius to plan how to defeat him.
On the map screen, locate the building that looks like a chevron arrow pointing South-West (called Glam). You’ll be looking for a building to the North-East of it on the corner of an intersection, close to where a wind tunnel snakes around to the North. From the ground, walk under the overhang in the North-West corner of the building to find the Spider-Bot above on the ceiling. Miles also struggles with Mister Negative being free from prison. But Martin Li is only seen about two times before he and Miles fight, and then he isn’t seen again until he’s redeemed and loses his powers.
Despite being awash with paramilitary criminal organisations, New York has never felt more toothless and dull. Dialogue has this odd faux-wholesome tone, like you’re trapped in a corporate training video—all careful politeness and empty one-liners. Even in emotional outbursts and tense confrontations, there’s no edge to anyone or any sense of an inner life. They’re so blandly nice it tips over into being unsettling—you keep getting that feeling like everyone’s waiting for you to leave so they can badmouth you behind your back. Where the first game starred Peter Parker, and its spin-off starred Miles, this one has both. Story missions choose for you, but often swap seamlessly between them as the action demands.

With the emergence of Miles, who becomes his student and potential successor, Peter has hope for a normal future. Miles, on the other hand, struggles to balance the life of a teenager with the heroic activities of Spider-Man and prepares for college entrance. Mary Jane has taken a job as a reporter at the Daily Bugle, where she encounters mysterious villains and, with the help of friends, overcomes them. Landscapes, views, and character models continue to be breathtaking. Lighting, shadows, and reflections have been revamped to give the game a visual polish. The number of people and vehicle traffic on the streets has increased due to a slight reduction in detail, which is unnoticeable in dynamics.
As the three of them sit on the Ferris Wheel, Hunters attack the park, as they are trying to capture the reformed villain, Tombstone. At this point, Harry reveals that he has merged with the Symbiote, which has given him powers that help Peter save the day. The two leave the amusement park, thrilled at the possibilities for the future as Act 1 comes to a thrilling close. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is filled with fun things for patient players to find throughout their adventure.

Spider-Man 3 is shaping up to be all about the Green Goblin and a returning Doc Ock. They are two of the greatest Spider-Man villains, but they’ll need a good supporting cast to back them up. Or else they’ll have to rely on characters like Big Wheel and Big Man. Not only did they come back, but they’re actively worse this time around. Meaning both elite-level world class hunters and alien monsters that two superpowered Spider-Men struggle against are done in by a reporter with a stun gun. Kraven the Hunter is the main villain for most of Spider-Man 2 and he isn’t anywhere near interesting or dynamic enough to be in that role.

Every bone in their body may be broken and every organ punctured, but of course, they’ll somehow live to commit crimes again. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, created by Insomniac Games and PlayStation in collaboration with Marvel Games, is a technological and graphical showcase utilizing tools like ray-tracing to bring the city of Marvel’s New York to life. On PC, you’ll encounter a variety of new ray-tracing options with individual quality settings to finetune performance and fidelity across a broad range of hardware configurations. The result is a cinematic but messy experience that not only still bears all the same flaws as its predecessor, but in many areas—particularly the storytelling—feels like a step backwards.
For Spider-Man 2 high ray tracing specs, you’ll need a GPU architecture upgrade, where only an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT will do. Despite being a PS5 port, the Spider-Man 2 system requirements can ask a lot of your gaming PC, especially if you want to play at 4K with ray tracing enabled. This setup provides access to more advanced ray tracing options and better visual quality. HM88 lets you enjoy ray-traced reflections and shadows at 1440p while maintaining smooth gameplay. These characters do add a bit more flavour to the world and its largely homogenous population of NPCs you’re clearly not intended to look at too closely.
To make him even more deadly, Eddie became aware of Peter’s secret identity from the symbiote’s time bonded to Spider-Man, and he gained the ability to nullify Spider-Man’s heightened senses. After Peter is gravely wounded, Harry allows the symbiote to bond with his friend to save his life, only for the symbiote to negatively affect Peter’s personality. After a series of catastrophic events, Miles has to battle Peter to remove the symbiote from Peter’s body. Miles initially helps rid Peter of the symbiote while Harry seeks to get it back. The symbiote re-bonds to Harry, who is resentful that Peter initially kept the symbiote to himself due to its malevolent influence on him. Upon re-bonding with Harry, the symbiote transforms Harry into the monstrous Venom, who then kills Kraven the Hunter and creates symbiote nests around the city.
In the latest adventure in the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe, teenager Miles Morales is adjusting to his new home while following in the footsteps of his mentor, Peter Parker, as a new Spider-Man. Venom also appeared for a brief moment in the reveal trailer, and again in the more recent Story Trailer too. And while we know Peter will be able to wield Symbiote powers at some stage, there’s no telling if Venom himself will eventually join forces with the spidey duo, perhaps uniting against the common threat of Kraven The Hunter. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was first revealed during Sony’s 2021 PlayStation Showcase event. The initial trailer gave us a look at Peter Parker and Miles Morales in action together, with Venom joining the fight at the very end.
